Hi guys,

We've been recamended to buy some Cooper STT tires, the salesman has said they're quiet on the road dispite being very aggressive. Has anyone got any experience with them? We're planning on putting a 2inch lift and spacers on our 90 to be able to fit 285's, would anyone have any other suggestions? We use it predominantly on the road and therefore they need to be quiet, but the tires need to be able to get several tons of logs out of a muddy field aswell!

Many thanks in advance,

Joe and Stan

PS, sorry if this is in the wrong area admin, I did have a look first!

May I ask why you want to fit 285s? That's a very wide size, 235/85 or 265/75 are probably the two most popular sizes to fit on Defenders and will do everything you need.

A wider tyre is also going to make more noise on the road, going for a slightly narrower tyre will give you quieter running and better fuel economy. Not that 265 is narrow by any stretch of the imagination!

we have them on our 110 expedition spec defender that has just got back from a 38,000km trip to mongolia and back and we didnt even get a puncture on them - very good tyre in my onion.

Thanks for the advice guys. I must admit I'm not sure where the 285 idea came from, but it kind of stuck in our minds. I'll have a look at some narrower ones.

thanks!

Joe

Hiya,

I have four new 265/75 STTs fitted and can confim they are excellent (certainly wide enough) - £400 fitted from Valley Tyres - Pontypridd:)
