This is a sad thread about sad vehicles and the sad people who own or aspire to own them. Just my opinion you understand, no need to take offence.

How is it sad to aspire to own a hardcore Landrover on a Landrover forum in the subsection of 'proper' Landrover go anywhere vehicles, such as a Defender?

Surely dreaming of making a Landrover as tough as possible is a perfectly normal occasional fantasy for a 4X4 enthusiast? Maybe akin to a Ford Escort driver aspiring to owning a Lotus Elise track day car.

I don't see it as 'sad' at all, and if it is, then we're all losers for owning or aspiring to owning 4x4 off road vehicles when we could easily take the bus/train or walk like everyone else.

I do see your point and it's valid, just a little surprised.

Yes, I know what you're saying. It's just that more and more these days I see a landy go past with a huge suspension lift and ridiculous tyres on and I think "what a pillock!". Don't get me wrong I love Land Rovers. I just see so many over modified ones these days and so much bull**** is talked by some of the owners it has become very un cool in my opinion. Maybe it's just me being a sad old git.

This will do for me. Would love to have one here in India.

I quite like the first one, all the bits but as subtle as it could be, I guess. ;)

My Disco will eventually be 'done up' too, unless I get a Defender, but for now it'll have to do.

Mind, when I say done up, I mean to suit more off-road/green-lane use than comp use, which means not making it look too MadMax .. ;)

tomb raider yes!But its a hicap, no room for mates fleeing the zombie apocolypse.Just noticed the jate rings ion the side ....?????
I like the 6x6, awesome looking tool as are the aus lrpv 6x6s.

what would do for me would be

110 black
standard LR alloys
4.4L V8 ala JE 35
comfy seats
no leaks
winch
clear side repeaters and indicators

that would do me pretty much no bling, nice engine and no leaks lol

not somthing as horrific as this - sounds crap & looks crap

this one

of course, i would say that, but i genuinely do find it apocalyptically cool - that 150" 6x6 riot van type thing comes second. that one in the initial post just looks like a nicely modified shiny 90 to me

Yeah, they could jump in the back I spose. I noticed the jate rings too haha, was trying to work out what they could be used for.

Anybody watch the BBC series, 'Survivors'? The only bloke with any sense in that had a really nice 110 DCPU as his vehicle.

nope, not at the moment. once i have fully built my one up i will get plenty of photos

its a bit of a nutty defender it must be said, cant wait to get the bits onto mine and up and running

its not a land rover, no landy chassic, not landy axles, no landy bulkhead, no landy panels.
