Hi all!

Have had some issues over last few days with my 2002 disco.

Coolant low then overheated and drove it for a wee bit long.

Some cracks on expansion tank sealed yesterday with epoxy resin, filled coolant/ water back up. Drove home fine yesterday power good temp good feeling fine.

Got on M1 did a couple of hours car felt great no power issues, no smoke no overheating.

Pulled over to fill diesel and went to inspect level from outside and puddle of coolant on floor. Spewing out from overflow and also bubbling round rim of cap.

Did a bit of reading and it looks like could be any number of things.

Head gasket (overheated engine yesterday), or cap.

Any ideas?

Currently sitting outside BP letting engine cool to top up coolant. Also not sure exactly how long to wait as need to check level and the stuff heats at temperature.

Was there anything I should have done yesterday when topping up which I didn't like run engine with cap off. Maybe didn't pressurise properly!?

Also, spew didn't happen until engine stopped running I think.

I am on the road and not able to get a new cap if that's the fix. It could have been on tighter. Could that simply be it?

Thanks guys!

Could be the cap.... make sure it's on tight and take it for a good run (up to working temp) then turn off engine. Squeeze the top hose, if its firm but with some give, it's probably OK. If its rock hard like a fully inflated bike tyre then it's most likely head gasket. Unfortunately it's most likely the latter...

mate thanks so much for your time and insight.
I tried the pipes and was firm with give rather than bloated.
AND I drove 350 miles after tightly fitting the cap and no major issues. Electrics got funny at the end S & M buttons () flashing but that's another pre-existing story.

Thanks again, genuinely
