Coolant pressure info query

Evening all question as a rule of thumb how hard should the top hose be ? I have a 4.6 and needle sits spot on at 12 oclock no loss of coolant but the top hose seems harder than it should be it is still possible to depress the hose but I just feel it is possibly too hard- could restricted flow in the rad cause this??
Any help or info appreciated and I have searched and read a host of posts - maybe after all the grief with the hgs I am a paranoid

The hose should be firm but squeezable with a good resistance....if you struggle to be able to create a good depression in the hose...it may be to firm....

Hook it to a static test rig and see what pressure it is making.

From what Saint says I am probably ok but as you suggest wammers thats the way to go will do it at weekend - its just after all the grief I had with cracks in liners hoses blowing off rads splitting helicoils moving etc etc having got her running I dont want to balls it up by not having the cooling system spot on
