I bought a Range Rover Vogue 4.6 (2000 W) last week and I am having a problem with it and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.

I have first realised the problem last week when I was driving along (on LPG) totally fine, then totally out of the blue the engine looses power, the only way to rectify the fault is to manually switch back to petrol and wait for it to kick back into life.
When I stopped I looked under the bonnet & noticed the LPG ‘Vaporiser’ was dripping (being totally new to LPG I didn’t know if this was condensation or a dodgy gas pipe, and the unit was VERY cold). I didn’t use the LPG for the rest of the day, and then continued to use it the next day.

Then since then, the car has run fine on both petrol & LPG (vaporiser very hot) without any problems until today!

I was halfway to my destination (aprox 3 miles) along a dual carriageway when the same problem happened again, the car lost power, so I switched to petrol.
5 minutes later when I had stopped, I opened the bonnet and checked the vaporiser, and again it was VERY cold, I squeezed the big coolant hoses on the top of the radiator but these didn’t make much noise and wasn’t boiling hot, just pretty warm.

When the car cooled down I opened the coolant bottle and it was pretty dry so I topped up and started the engine on petrol. After a few minutes on idle the engine was warm, the hoses hot and vaporiser hot as supposed to be.

What can cause this loss of water (dad has checked oil and this is fine) could it be some sort of blocked pipes or a solenoid that isn’t switching?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry for the long description.

Many thanks
Paul

as it didnt boil over the i would say it just froze the vap due to low coolant, keep a close eye on coolant and dont switch over till the temp needle lifts(i usually switch at half blue in winter and normal on really cold icy days)

look for any leaks in engine bay and also check carpets in foot wells.

for now just keep it checked and topped up unless of course you find a leak, then seal it and keep checking!

remember the antifreeze mix is 50% on these cars!!!

i topped up the water, replaced the cap, and let the engine run for about 10mins.

i removed the cap, and checked the water, and it looked like this....
is this normal????
