hi guys my first post here, just bought a 1994 L, range rover 3.9 vouge se and its got a few problems.
One annoying EAS problem but i wont go into that at the mo.

The coolant needs topping up about every week.I thought maybe head gasket/s but i did the usual checks like checking in the header tank and rocker covers for oil in the water and water i the oil,and it isnt burning it,no white smoke . I then noticed the drivers side floor under the carpet is wringing wet.I think maybe coolant is getting in from maybe the heater or maybe a water pipe under the dash but i've not taken one of these things apart before so im not sure.

Is this a problem any one has come accross before and can any one give any advice please .

thanks
Andy

Buster,

Sounds like your heater matrix could be leaking and will need to be replaced, just had this done to my 4.6 HSE.

Sorry,

Jon

How much did this cost please, as I have the same problem on my p38 4.0, and am getting the thumbs down from my mechanic.

Chances are its just the heater matrix o rings leaking on your P38 RR - not the matrix.I usually charge no more than 2hrs labour and about £2.50 for the o rings, the matrix dont usually fail, only if you cant get the screw undone on the clamp does the labour go over 2hrs.

You better pull up floor mats and carpet and check for corrossion underneath. Same thing happened to me with my 1991 classic, and the floorboards were completely rusted.
