Coolant level sensor

Morning to everyone,

Annoying little problem on a Disco td5 year 2000.

The coolant level light - yellow (on the dash) has started to come on for about a second very occassionaly whilst driving. The expansion tank is showing correct level, driving - engine temperatures as normal and there is no oil in the coolant.
Where is the level sensor located in the cooling system ?
Any ideas why this has started to happen and how to correct it, could it be an air-lock ?

There is no such warning on D2 ...if it's on the right upper side of the instrument pack then it's the "water in fuel filter" sensor.
Are u speaking about nr14 or which one?

Your level sensor may be knackered, but it is better not to assume. The same goes with every dang sensor and associated light the car has. Half the time the sensor is kaputt and half the time you have a real problem.

Check for a brittle wire breaking near the expansion tank cap. That's what caused mine to light up. Simple repair of the wire fixed it.

Yes, thats the symbol - No 14 on your diagram that lights up.
What should i do to remedy this ? and should i be concerned.

No probs m8... you're not the first confusing this warning with something else.... it's the sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter...some water is sedimented there... unplug it, unscrew it and let some fuel to come out, untill u think there's no more water there then put it back...they used to make tricks even without much water cos they are very sensitive.... IMO it's useless as long u change filters by decent periods. U can even leave the cap on the bottom of the new filter and get rid of this sensor....or put a proper screw instead of it if it's faulty, isolate the plug and fix it somehow to the chassis.
