hi,

another day another problem! i started smelling a burnt anti freeze type smell in the cab.. couldnt think what it could be until i checked the coolant . and under it ther was few splashes.. so it is obviously leaking. but not from the pipes running into iit. i think the actual tank itself must have a split in it or something..

i am going to take it off and have a look etc, is there anything i should do in particular when taking it off? and is it a common prob?

the temp guage doesnt go any more than half way aswell, so is normal, which is what threw me!

cheers

Not a lot to go on what engine have you? It could be the filler cap or it could be the head gasket.

o, sorry, forgot to mention.. it's either a 200tdi or 300tdi . not quite sure yet!

its definately just coming from the black plastic coolant tank on the left hand side of engine bay when looking at it. its almost coming out from directly underneath it and drips down the side panel.

thanks ed

Guys

I have the same problem. M reg 90 300tdi engine

Filler/Expansion Tank is now about 1/2" under the max mark

Pipes coming out of the tanks feel and look dry. Top of the tank is dry, filler cap feels dry. Base of tank is wet and you can see marks where the fluid has run down the wing.

Do these tanks split after a while??

Any Ideas

Cheers
