Despite replacing the coolant bottle as well as having 2 new caps for it I'm unable to tighten the cap down on the bottle. It spins similar to one of those child proof medicine bottles and has coolant constantly leaking from it. Surely not normal?

Is it a case of yet another cap and or bottle or is there a simple solution?

It does yes, but why do I have traces of coolant around the top of the cap? On my Torque Pro the temp regularly gets up to around 110 but the fans quickly bring this down to 105. Is it getting too hot and therefore too much pressure perhaps?

The new one I bought was a non-clicking one.
I was under the impression that these are better as they don't let air in, but they will vent excess pressure.
Certainly seemed to help anyway!
 
Nothing to do with your cap but what are you using on the obd plug to make torque work my ebay special bluetooth adapter only reads rpm.

Where did you get it from? Rimmers is where I got the one I have?

New bottle, the original one did have cracks in it.

Can someone confirm the temperatures for me which the fans should come on. When I see 109-110 on the Torque App I hear the fan come on and it sounds as if it's about to take off?

Believe so. No bubbles in bottle, no mayo on dipstick or filler cap. Checked the top hose this morning when it was hot and I was able to squeeze it, saw the coolant level change in the bottle. Just evidence of coolant around the filler cap.

Could someone post the engine temps for me please for when the fans come on?
 
there is nothing in the manuals about what temperature it should be as far as I can see I will try to find out for you unless some one answers first.
 
From L-series RAVE:

As temperature reaches 80-84 °C, the thermostat
gradually opens, bleeding cool fluid from the radiator
bottom hose into the cylinder block and allowing hot
coolant to flow through the heater circuit and to the
radiator through the radiator top hose, balancing the
flow of hot and cold fluid to maintain the optimum
operating temperature. When the thermostat opens
fully, at 96 °C the full flow of coolant passes through
the radiator.
All vehicles have two fans. These operate either in
series or parallel according to engine coolant
temperature or air conditioning requirements. The
fan operation is controlled by the ECM. The fans
operate in series (slow mode) when a temperature
of 106°C or higher is sensed. When a temperature
of 112°C is sensed the fans switch from series to
parallel operation (fast mode). When the
temperature falls to 106°C or below, the fans are
switched back to series operation. The fans stop
when a temperature of 100°C or lower is sensed.

Thanks for this, so my fans are working as they should. Hose can be squeezed when hot, so perhaps it is just a cap issue? Will look to getting another replacement.

Anyway have now got the driver's window making the graunch of death as it lowers so need to get that fixed. Oh what joys.
