Cool but not cold?

I've just recharged the air con on my 2000 discovery 2 and its better.....but not great.

Seems that everything is working ie air from the vents is cooler, engine revs drop when it kicks in etc but was hoping for more. I have checked the coolant pressure over the last week of heavy use and it has not leaked but the temperature of the air never seems to drop to what I would expect.

Am I missing something obvious?

Is there a simple test that i can do that does not entail writing a massive cheque? Or a air con service that can revive it?

Any ideas?
Many thanks

On mine, for some reason the passenger side delivers cool air but the drivers side cannot go below ambient.

Wonder if my problem is to do with the flaps inside the climate control unit or the actuators that control them - could your problem be similar?

I don't know much about A/C but according to the manual for a 91 RRC, you might try looking at the receiver/drier when the system is running. If there are lots of bubbles/foam visible (through the sight glass on the top) after the system has been running it indicates low gas pressure apparently.
