Your standard on-board fuel filter filters down to between 5-10 microns.

I filter 180 litres at a go and add one 20 litre jerry of unleaded (actually its the petrol my local garage syphons out of the diesel tanks of drivers who forgot what their motor runs on - it costs me nowt). Then I use the mix 50/50 with diesel. It fires up on the button even in this cold snap. During the summer I was using it about 75/25 oil/derv with no problems but it smokes like a chimney in this cold at that ratio.

If your making your own fuel, use loads of biocide in it as well as mine got contaminated by veg oil and water and cause a huge ball of muck to grow in the fuel filter (needs changing for the third time since new year, and i'm still trying to clean out the tank!

These filters, is it possible to buy 'inline' filters? Ie I could have a piece of pipe coming out me used oil tank, then a filter, more hose, another filter and more hose to another tank. If you get my drift?

I collect the used oil etc. in washed 25 litre plastic detergent drums from my local car wash. Easy to handle and plentiful.

Yes the 100 micron stainless mesh filter is an inline jobby.
The paint filters can be inline or just like a coffee filter with an open top.
I use in line filters piped from the oil drum and compressed air to move the oil. You only need about 10psi if its set up properly. Careful with the air or the drum will bulge or even worse burst a seam.
