Hi everybody,

I would like to know if there is a professional in Britain who is Knowledge of changing an engine of a diesel 2.5L BMW P38 type M51 by a 2.5L BMW M51 NEW GENERATION or by a BMW 3L or to the 2.5L in réaléser 3L (but I think it's the worst solution)

Sorry for my English catastrophic.

Thank you

Greg, From Belgium

Not sure from your message if you are looking for a new engine or just boosting the power of your current motor, in the event of the latter have a look at WWW.POWERCHIPS.COM OR WWW.jeengineering.co.uk or google 'Diesel power boost'

Hope you understand my English.

As a BMW owner as well I think the poster is asking if the later generation BMW diesels (which are 3ltre) can replace the exsisitng 'BMW' lump in the Diesel Rangies?

M51 is the engine designation code for BMW diesel engine (i.e the 2.5ltre) one I think... my old pertrol BMW had an #M52TU engine (which was 2.8 petrol)

Hello,

I see that nobody has a solution.
To help those that could be relevant here is what my research has enabled to find,

There are two types of engine M51, those originally fitted in the range are first generation, a more reliable engine was put into service from 1996 on the BMW 525 TDS is the type M51TU engine, it seems that one little mounted easily in the range, the Swiss also a fact here is the link to its website, I am going back in touch with him to see the difficulties it has encountered and whether it is content of its mounting.
