Hey, have been looking at this disco and quite like it, needs some welding on the rear chassis but thats about all. Guy says he gets about 15mpg town and 24mpg highway.. a bit less than my td5 o_O
Well anyways, it has been converted to springs instead of airbags.. and I like my air suspension...
Is it just a simple case of remove springs, fit airbags and take my compressor and pipes from my old one, and then tell the car its back on air? Or are things a little more complicated...?
Cheers

Watching with interest as I want to reinstate air on mine. Still got compressor and air lines in place so just bags and sensors for me if I can prove out the compressor is in good shape

Going down the route of re-instating the air suspension, IMO would require not only replacing the air bags, but you'd be well advised to replace the ride height sensors too.
A careful check of the air lines would be in order before you do the final SLABS reconfiguration.
Be prepared to either have to service or even replace the compressor since you don't know why the system was changed to coils in the first place.
Good luck and we look forward to hearing how it goes.

I'd replace my airbags and sensors anyway, they are getting cheap now, Think Id get a rebuilt kit for the compressor too, when im at it.
But I wasn't sure if there was any messing about with the actual body/where the bags fix on to.

Since mine is on windy springs and always has been, I can't honestly comment on exactly how coil springs are fitted, but from most of what I've read, there doesn't seem to be any major differences in fixings.

you just unbolt the lower spring seat , bag fits in the slot on axle bracket and is twisted 90 degrees to lock, the top seat accepts the bag or spring without modification

Just a thought - if you go and look at it, check to see if the air pipes to each bag are still there, or haven't been cut back too short. I'm sure you could thread new pipes, but it would be extra effort.
If the pipes are OK I'd give them a blow through before connecting up, that's if they haven't been capped off and just left open to the crud under there.
