Is it possible to convert a 10 spline rear axle to 24 spline using stock parts?

Specifically an early D1/RRC rear axle with the integrated flanges. Although I think an early 90 axle would be the same.

The reason I ask is, Googling this has resulted in different info. But nothing concrete.

I know the shaft lengths are different between the 10 and 24 spline axles. As are the flanges on the Disco/RRC axles.

Ashcroft do 24 spline “early” and “late” shafts (they don’t do 10 spline at all). The “early” is for the 10 spline axles. But obviously with a replacement 24 spline diff centre.

Reason for asking is, I have a rear 10 spline axle in good working condition all round and good disc brakes. But I’d like to fit a 24 spline diff centre. Can this be done using OEM/pattern bits? And without spending £300 for a set of half shafts from Ashcroft.

google frc8094 and frc8095 they are 24 spline but fit 90 drum with thick drive member, youd need to check exact length to see they tally with rrc/disco axle

Yes, just need diff, half shafts, stub axles and hubs, it's a nut and bolt job I've done a few times.
Ta. So I guess it’s the hub that’s the key here then? Paddocks list the same stub axle for both axles.

Shame it all starts to add up. About £120 for new hubs and £100 for a pair of shafts. Plus new gaskets and bits. Seems the Ashcroft shafts that will fit straight in aren’t a huge amount more.

Do you know if the brake calipers fit ok with the latter hubs?

I did my back axle the opposite way and swapped it out for a 24 spline unit.

Front axle was just diff, half shafts, stubs and hubs, need to fit 4 longer studs as there are some short ones left over from the imperial age gone by lol.
