Been doing a lot of overhead welding today. Horrible but am just about there.
I'm now having an issue where as soon as I strike the arc there's double contact. Once on contact tip and once in swan neck. Driving me nuts. I've removed swan neck and cleaned out. Am I right in saving there's no liner in the neck itself - it's just a piece of pipe? I'm hoping 8t was just crap from overhead that's caused it as I can't be arsed with driving all the way to machine mart tomorrow!!!

Is it a euro torch? If it is, the liner usually is fitted right up against the contact tip.
It's not like but I will be upgrading at some point. I took the neck off and cleaned out with q tip. Cleaned all gun up and re-assembled and we are back in business. All I can think is that some crap or swarf was obstructing wire feed in the neck itself.

have you used a new tip, they are better changed regularly
I must have used 5 yesterday overhead. What a mare. I realised I could get nice runs with very short stick out when welding overhead but this also killed tips. It definitely all needed a good clean after that. I doubt it's ever been cleaned (I bought second hand).
