I want to get all my snorkel connected but atm it just has a k and n cone filter on the turbo and a rebel style snorkel thats not connected.

Because it's had a retofit 300tdi there is not much room for a proper metal aircan and hosing so is it likely to do any damage if i simply connect the snorkel to the turbo and put a cone filter on top of the snorkel (assuming everything is properly sealed, with extended breathers/wading plugs)

I'm worried about driving it in the rain or leaving it parked in heavy rain with just the cone on top, with liberal coating of wd40, is it likely to get enough water into the engine to do any damage?

Thanks in advance, Harry

I can out some pics of the engine on this evening, it's a 1989 F-reg so 2.5td with lt77 as standard but a disco 300 bolted in. because the bellhousing is shorter than an r380, i can't mount an air can on the black tray above the drivers footwell because it's to tight against the bulkhead. The snorkel is on the passenger side, will try to upload a pic of the actual snorkel now. Thanks for the quick reply, Harry

At the moment, there is just a hose coming off the turbo with a cone filter on it and then the snorkel which isn't connected, what do you guys think to just putting the hose from the turbo to the bottom of the snorkel and then the cone filter on the top of the snorkel? Just worried about water potentially coming down straight into the turbo?

Cheers, harry

ye that wouldnt be good and totally defeat the point of having a snorkel.
you ever hear of ppl getting oil in their air filter? comes out of the turbo. If you have ur air pipe going straight up into the snorkel it will have nowhere to go. also if you just stick ur cone on the top out in the open it will soak up water like a sponge. best fit a normal air filter dont have to be an original so long as it does the job you can get one which will fit in the space you got.
