When cold and stood the oil level shown on the dipstick is quite low. But when the engines been run for a few minutes the oil level shown on the dipstick is very high.
This has me confused as to which level is correct and why it's doing it?
S3 2&1/4 petrol

Could be a false reading when oil has settled and is cold. Might be something on the dipstick stopping the oil from sticking to the metal..

Check the oil for the smell of Petrol , might be the diaphragm gone in you fuel pump allowing petrol into sump which will then evaporate off the oil whilst standing.

Im assuming once Engine is hot....
You let it stand for 5 mins....
Wipe dipstick then check?
If not thats why reading is high...
The correct level shown will be when cold....
If that is the case....

It'll always read high when pulling straight out of the engine as the oil has splashed round. As above, take out and wipe before re-inserting to take a measurement

. Also remember, if parked nose down on a hill, level will be high, if nose up then it will be low so check on the flat if possible for the most accurate reading
