I've got a 2006 Land Rover Defender 110. Had it since new, few little issues here and there, but nothing major... However, had a bit of an accident yesterday. Had a grab lorry in removing my rubble and my keys have fallen out of my pocket, into the rubble. I did have one of those tracker things on it... However it was only at the end of the days when I looked for them that, well, err... It was tracked upto the crusher....

So, popped into Salisbury Land Rover and they wanted £66 for a key blank. £90 for a key fob. Now, I did manage to find my old key & fob ( had her from new ). and got the fob synced up and key works. But I really want to get a copy - just incase the concrete crusher gets me again.

I would appreciate any pointers on how to save myself some pennies - other than, don't drop your keys into the rubble pile....

Many Thanks Paul :)

That's the problem with a modern truck, even the key costs as much as my first landy.;)o_O
I once ran over my cantilever toolbox with a tractor and full corn trailer,:oops: nearly all the tools survived but getting them out of the flattened box was heck of a job.:D

I just renewed my insurance and noticed it covers replacement keys but I never know whether it's worth claiming for that sort of thing as you will probably have a higher premium next year because of it.

You can get another key from tampons for cheap seeing as you have an original. Doesn't help with a fob though.
