computer/MM help

Just put MM on my laptop (vista) with the sat nav dongle in and picking up a signal the satellite status box is blank, and another box says communication has timed out. I am out of my comfort zone here, all input welcomed.

I had the issue once and it was the gps receiver hadn't got a satellite fix. Just had to wait a bit longer and it sorted the problem for me.

Maybe i'll leave it in the motor for a while, but did you have a "communication time out" error

The satnav dongle int setup to the same port as MM.

Open MM and click GPS on the menu bar.

Click setup GPS and selct manufacturer as NMEA. and check the serial port is set to the same one that the SATNAV is set to.

If the satnav is synched properly in the bottom left hand corner of the screen it'll say what the GPS status is. if the port is wrong a dialog box will open saying GPS not found.

It was all set up correct except had the bauge rate ( is that right ) set to low put it up to 9600 and all working. thanks for your suggestions.
