What's the legal situation with those particular LED lights? They are advertised as work lamps, not spots, fog or driving lamps. Cree LEDs are VERY bright!

Not sure, I was wondering what kind of light these lights put out, as I obviously want spots on the front, and floods on the roof. Any ideas? Might buy a couple and have a try.

Also, what is the max number of lights you can have on the front of a vehicle by law? I used to think it was 8 inc headlights, but couldn't find anything.

And thanks for the offer of some apps :)

AFAIK - there are no limits on number or type of lights, only what you can use and when, I don't believe you can use LED roof lights as main beam, you can use centre front mounted spots as these class as "driving lights" but, if you have them all on a switch and dip them you should be ok, just don't get it wrong when flashing someone!

Ahh, ok. Thanks, I didn't know that. I was going to have them so you could decide which sets could come on with full beam. The way I see it, it can't fail its MOT because unless I give them the tablet there isn't a way to turn them on!

That would be the most sensible option :D

Arduino board came today. It is actually amazingly easy to program. I have already got the LCD display to show the temperature...mostly with stolen code, but hey.

I have ordered the bluetooth component for the board so that should come on Monday and I can start looking at making the app.

The main problem with the board I have bought is the number of inputs, there are only 6 analogue and 8 digital and the LCD uses a lot of those. I guess if I use all of them I will get a different board.

Which of the dash gauges are controlled by wire so I can take a reading from them?

It you are interested I have written a complete touch screen graphical user interface package for the arduino DUO and had planned to do exactly what you are looking at doing. Using it you can easily build a 7" full colour touch display and display clocks, graphical bars etc. I will be getting round to writing gauges for it eventually but I'm a bit busy at the moment :D
