Hi was looking for some help on what to start with on this rebuild. Also if anyone has a parts list of the things they replaced on their rebuilds. Would be appreciated. I have save up enough to buy a new chassis and suspension kit, along with bulkhead and engine. Was looking for what would be a good choice on height for the suspension also where to get a good deal on a new interior or if i should just have the interior re-done.

Any help would be appreciated.:)

question really is how much are you planning on spending, how long have u got, does the chassis need replacing, what are you going to use it for, what condition is it in....

on my own i have stripped everything, chassis to bare metal before hammerite n waxoyl, every single nut and bolt is new, most upgraded to 12.9 high tensile, axles stripped, painted, all bearings and seals replaced, calipers stripped, painted with new pistons, brake pipes and all fittings made from scratch..... etc etc etc

only you know your budget, timeframe and ability so give us a clue?

As opposed to mine which is held together with gaffa tape, spit, curses and a prayer

As for interior there are loads of options... standard seats retrimmed...

recaros are an easy fit

range rover classic rear is comfy.... arm rests etc

and access to battery if thats what u need...

there are loads of threads on here detailing different options.... landy owners are nothing if inventive :)

I have yet to tear into her, but I have been doing research for about a year now. Looking to complete the project in a year-hopefully less. I was Talking to a few shops around the area, Most of them tell me if im going to spend the money get a new chassis, that way no issues with rusting. I have the know-how just need to put it to work. Also where did you get all the upgraded bolts and bits from?

Which company did you use to get all the new seals for the axles?

I'm mainly looking where to get the items i need. There are a bunch of online stores out there, just looking for quality one.

Like the yellow on orange, don't know if i would go that route though
:)

12.9 bolts are from a local engineering supplier in feltham, far cheaper than ebay and genuine 12.9,

seals from various.... bought bits off craddocks, steve parker, lrseries etc etc, brake pipes n fittings off ebay and few bits from sortout, 6 degree radius arms n bush kit from M&M 4x4

lift will be in the region of 15" over standard give or take an inch...

cheers steve

Did you source the bolts out urself then buy them or do they have kits?

Could I get the shop name and/or you tell me what it would cost me to get a complete nut and bolt replacement.

What would you recommend for a lift and bye which company. I have my eye on the 5 inch lift from tera, but heard britpart is better. Keeping in mind I would like to run 33" tires on the truck.

With the 33" tires would that change the gear ratio?

They dont do kits and no idea on cost as I tend to pop in and get what i need as i need them, prob spent in region of £40 on bolts so far but nowhere near finished, they are only 5 mins from my work and do it all 'for cash' but there must be firms far closer to yourself just check yellow pages...

The terrafirma kit can be made up piece by piece far cheaper if you have the time e.g. on mine for the 6" suspension alone lift

Machined 3" billet aluminium lifting blocks c/w all bolts £85 - EBay, wont collapse / rust like many u see

3" Scorpion Springs and 3" Decarbon sports shocks £120 , secondhand but brand new as never fitted (Guy wanted to rebuild his truck standard so didnt use them) - EBay

2" shock droppers £28 - EBay

Rose jointed Panhard - £50 - EBay

QT 6 degree arms - £200 new from M&M at the time (kept looking but never saw any 6's come up second hand)

Full yellow bush kit - £65 M&M

+6" braided extended brake lines £50 new - EBay

-2" galvanised tubular dropped turrets £30 - EBay

double cranked trailing arms £65 - EBay

prob about £700 in bits over time.... isn't the terrafirma package about £1500 although admittedly if id had to buy all new it would have been over £1000

but my bits were purchased over the last 4 years so could afford to wait till bits came up.....

I can't comment on Britpart suspension but will not knowingly put anything Britpart on the rover... far too many seal faliures, brake probs etc over the years and dont want to be rebuilding bits within 6 months of getting on the road

Cheers Steve

What the difference between the 3 degree and 6 degree? And are terrafirma worse or better than the M&M. Found a 5 inch lift kit bye Tera for 800 pounds with the bars but doesn't come with coils. I also was looking at the double front shocks and rear shoe mounts any ideas on those?
