Hi all, after much thinking ive decided to keep my 5 door now instead of selling for a 3 door as i do think its a good one so as everyone says "why change".
Ive already done a oil and filter change and just bought some oil for the rear diff, ird and some mtf94 for the gearbox.
Im going to change these oils and i know it should be a straight foward job but is there any hidden nastys i should be aware of??
I can see its gonna be a pain to get the oil back in rear diff because of clearance but i have a large syringe and pipe so gonna make my own pump.Just mainly wondering about the ird and gearbox?want to do asap so i can get the under tray fitted again.

Why don't you get one of these.

Draper Oil Suction Gun Hand Pump Syringe Gearbox Diff on eBay (end time 11-May-10 23:42:26 BST)

As Chromiumuk says, get one of those, no idea how you would pump oil in any other way. You could also use this to suck out the old fluid from the rear diff as there is no drain plug.

The hardest part I found is getting the fill and drain plugs off, some can be a git to get to.

for those of you that cant be bothered to search for something which was posted on LZ over 2 years ago as part of the Landrover notice in the Q's and A's bit:

autobox info courtesy of ashcroft transmissions:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: On the back of the unit, located above the drive shaft is a location bolt for the brake band. This is a 19ml Hex/Special Torx bolt. This is often mistaken for the level plug . IT IS NOT. Please do NOT remove this as it cannot be refitted without stripping the box apart. If this is removed you will loose reverse gear.

Photo of the bolt you must not remove here

The level bung is located on the base of the unit and is a 5mm Allen key bolt.
