Gotta agree with Rollin Danny, Put £60 of diesel in and got 300 miles back from it. That was generally knockin about around Wednesbury with a run out to Ludlow. I'm new to runnin a Disco so still drivin round with that silly grin on me face

Re: compare MPG please
Just done a brim to brim on bio -done 487 miles and used 87lts bio (2 fills ).Mostly traffic jam driving + a couple of hundred miles on m/way at 70 mph.So that gives 26 mpg-bio only contains 4/5 the energy of derv, but it is a better lubricant.Seems reasonable to me,running big chunky tyres. My first disco so nothing to compare it to.

My first week of running my disco td5 and got 137 miles out of £30 worrks out to just under 22mpg. Not too bad as i am adjusting to drving a diesel from a 4.6 v8. This is also around town.
Coffee monster where abouts in Wednesbury are you? i am by the Brunswick pub.

Ive just trying to work out my mpg, Filled up a week last friday on the M40, chucked about 50 squid in, zero'd the clock, motorway driving, stop start driving on M40/M25/M3....local driving for a week to and from work, shopping and stuff

The clock is heading just near the 400 mile mark......... and I got just under a quarter of a tank left...... to early to say cos I wanna try this again to confirm some figures...

Ive done one or two of these calculators and is gotta be wrong ...... from the info Im inputing my MPG is between 39 & 42......Need to check that one

Anyone wanna work out MPG try with calculator MPG Calculator.co.uk - Work out your cars Miles Per Gallon

I assume thats not a landy...

about £50 isn't accurate enough! You need to note the actual litres that you put in, or at least total price + the price per litre, then you can work out how many litres you've put in.

I normally fill up @ the light coming on with 46L which is near enough 10gall then when the light comes back on, just divide milage by 10 = mpg, roughly anyway...

As I said need to do this mileage and fuel consumption thing a few times to get a better reading... I dont believe the figures to start with...

And yeh it is a landy...... be a bit dumb not having one and using this site...lol

More info on MPG status as it comes. if I can be botherd....lol

Divide number of litres by 4.54 to give gallons then divide number of miles by number of gallons. 87 lts divided by 4.54 = 19.1. 487 divided by 19.1 =25.4. roughly :D. Thats how I do it.

Filling up a full tank usually wipes that grin off :(:D

I'm about to purchase my first Discovery and I want a V8 because I'm a big kid and I like the sound of a V8, but my head is saying get a 300Tdi, this is a dumb question lol, but is there a huge difference in MPG between a V8 and a 300Tdi both offroading and motorway driving?

on a slightly different note, is a auto or manual better for offroading? it'll mainly be used greenlaning. cheers

£98 to fill up today then i noticed i'd used shell V-power not happy at all :(
Look on the bright side ,you might get a few more miles to a tank.A couple of years ago it was £1.33 pl. I filled up in cornwall ...£108 . Think its getting time to get the veg oil out again.
