Hi, I am looking to buy a Defender 90 and then convert have it converted. I am assuming this will be cheaper and lower risk than simply buying a soft top 90. 2 Qs please: (I) am I talking nonsense (II) are there reputable companies that do the conversion for you? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I bought a hard top and turned it into soft top. Only takes a day at most if you take it easy including stripping out the inside.
You can buy all the bits, or get them second hand.
Where are you in the UK?

All Wheel Trim in Whitney would supply all the parts , they may even offer to do it for you.
or there is also Exmoor trim who I knwo make the tilts, I beleive they also make the frames as well.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Neilly. I haven't bought the hard top 90 yet. I want to get a reliable one within a budget of about £15k. Any idea of this is realistic? Thanks again.

OK, I would hope you can get one for that much...But do be careful there is a lot of rubbish out there.

One thing to mention. The tub on mine did not have the frame work location holes / supports in it to accept the frames in to the tub , I had to fab a different way to fit them frames for the tilt.
I never did find out why this was. I know it is a tub from a later 2005 ish MY vehicle.

Cheers
