Are you up for a Challenge at Glendearg this weekend? Well if you are then read on.
The challenge the organisers have with the last round of the Scottish Cross Country Championship at Glendearg on Sunday the 18th October organised by SLROC/SORC, is to make it every bit as enjoyable and safe as all of the other six rounds. In order to do this we need your help to marshal the event, whether experienced or not you are most welcome.
Location:-
The event will be held at Glendearg Farm, near Galashiels, Scottish Borders.
The entrance to the site is Ordnance Survey ref. NT 517 380.
The site is north of Galashiels, on the unclassified road between the B6374 and Langshaw. It is marked on most maps as "Glendearg". Orange arrows will be on the route from the main road
A spacious camping and service area is available on this site, with a great view of the action too.
Camping is available from Friday night if you want to get there early and assist with the set up on Saturday!
The timetable is:-
SUNDAY 18th OCTOBER
0830 Scrutineering and documentation opens.
0930 Scrutineering closes
0915 Documentation closes for marshals
0930 Marshals Briefing, and dispersal
0945 Documentation closes for competitors
0950 Drivers Briefing
1000 Drive-round
1030 First car starts, lap 1
1629 Last available lap
1630 Course closed.
1700 Results (assuming no protests, etc)
This is also a good opportunity for our members in the Borders to get to see a speed event on their doorstep with very little travelling. The best way to be among the action is to be signed on as a marshal as you will be able to take a vehicle out onto the course and park up with a great view. We will also be having a marshals draw at the end of the day.
Whether you choose to come as a spectator or a marshal you will be most welcome. If youre coming to help let me know Colin Rodger 07767-726075 or by email [email protected] likewise if you have any queries give me a shout.
Ps. I have taken on the Role of Chief Marshal for The Borders Hill Rally on the 28th & 29th November at the Forrest Estate, St Johns Town of Dalry, New Galloway. Its a new venue for this established event, with 100 stage miles and only 24 liaison miles off Public roads. Many people have volunteered already to help run the event, a few that I have seen at events have said that I havent asked for their help. Well its simply a case off, I most likely dont have your email address or telephone number, so I would ask that you help me out by calling me 07767-726075 or by email [email protected] full details of the event Welcome to the Frontpage
