Hello all!
I've been on here for a while but after having to sell the series 3 while the little one was...well...little, I have popped in every so often and have now decided to get a 90 to go along with my new job. Theres one for sale locally,1999 td5 done 45k miles and has a good straight bulkhead and chassis. They want around £6500 but would take my used (read knackered head gasket and lambda sensor) 1.6 octavia in part ex. it runs well (the landy :p) and has service history, will come warrantied for 12months and MOT'd.
So does this sound like a decent deal? Or should I be looking for cheaper?

Thanks for any help guys!

hopefully not going to be landy-less for too long!

i would say thats ok money.

Mine cost just over that 2 years ago. (2000 TD5 90) mine was standard apart from big tyres and rock sliders, and it had 79K on it.

You will pay a little more for low mileage. If it was me, as long as it was straight and in decent nic i would take into consideration others of a similar age and do the maths. :)

Have you got pics or a linky?

cheers,
I looked at similar age and mileage and it seems a decent price i think. It has side step/sliders but thats about it. tyres are a/t coopers I think. does need a new seal for vent, but thats about it i think.
Cant do a pic at work, blocks the photo sites! I'll have a go later!
thanks!

Ebay and Autotrader are wonderful things. You can see what similar machines are going for and make your mind up. I found them a lot more useful than paper based used car price guides when I was looking for mine. If it's 14 years old there'll have been plenty of time for rust to take hold. There's plenty of discussion on here about what goes rusty - rear crossmember, outriggers, bulkhead and so on.

cheers.
i used to have a series 3 so know where to look for rust etc. it seems pretty tidy other than old underseal all i could see else was a bit of rust on the tank protector and the springs. its being mot'd today so will see if it raises anything i couldnt reach!
