Hi all,
After selling my last Freelander I have been driving a Toyota Rav for the last 2 years, but now I have decided to replace the Rav and buy another Land Rover Freelander and this is where I need some help.
I"ve got my mind set on a 2001, 1 owner TD4 Automatic, the only problem is, it has an intermittent problem with the Auto box where it occasionally is slow in engaging just 5th gear!
Other than that, it is in immaculate condition.
Any ideas of what it could be?
Any advice really will be appreciated

Sounds normal to me. Mine and others mess about before shifting into 5th. However it's a wise idea to change the box fluid ;)

They all bugger about with 5th gear.
But looking on the down side could be a solenoid problem, worn band etc.
Chances are it's just doing the normal stuff. Only way I can say to check is, put it into D, then press the gear selector to the right (sport) , then pull back, this will put it in tiptronic. Go for a drive, don't change gear til you hit 3000rpm. If it moves up through the gears ok, then it's OK. If it still messes about with 4th-5th, it could have an issue.
Mike
