Anyone on here had any experience of Colway tyres, esp the Greenways Macho tread pattern, like the look of them and need 4, how do they cope off road and on tarmac, or is there a better tread pattern to suit my needs......

Will be going for the 235/85x16 to replace the crap 750's that are on at the moment.....

Cheers Yella....

Cant make up my mind
AT for the tarmac, use mine on the road a lot, plus greenlaning, easy with some rough bits, but want to try pay and play more extreme stuff.

MT, more for green and off roading, but do like the look of em plus will be doing some pay and play in March, could be noisy on tarmac??

Macho's look brilliant, ideal for pay and play, will deal with anything I could ever chuck at it, but could be noisy on tarmac, over and above wind, engine, axle noise...

Main prob for me is a tyre that will not make crap steering any worse......

Standard Colway MT's are what you needs :D cant fault em in any way shape or form. Great on road, fantastic off road and cheap into the bargain so when you rip the sidewall open you wont be so peed off about it :D

id go for the m/t. dont think their too noisy on the road and will be much better on greenlanes/pay&play.

ive got 265/75 grizzly claws which make a lotta noise but are awesome at pay and play sites. getting through stuff that V8 90's and disco's couldnt :D and its only a 2.5 N/A!

i would recommend going for a narrower tire as the wider ones can make handling tricky on minor roads. mine is all over the place on country lanes due the off-camber of the road and the width of the tire. there is a post somewhere on the forum about this. i beleive ormus knows what im talking about.

do you use your series for daily commute or anything like that? if you do, then you should prob go a/t.

you could always go for your 235/85 macho's and just change all 4 wheels the night before you plan on greenlanes/pay&play. then using your 750's for everyday use.

who knows?

Can only afford 1 set of tyres, the 750's I have at the mo are almost on last legs, so wont use em except in dire times.

So guess I will go for the middle of the range MT, as they seem to give the best of both worlds, would I be better at getting 5, or will a 750 do as a spare????

aye get a set of colways. ive used em for yrs. great value for money.
and as YD says, when u do one in, it dont hurt so much at 36 quid.

i once saw a chap do 2 grabbers in, in one day. 120 quid each! ouch!

I had a set of Colway AT's - still have one as a spare. No trouble on or off road but they did perish very badly on the side walls and needed to be replaced for the MOT. Only completed 10k but vehicle did stand about.
Replaced with BFG MT's.
