Hello new to Freelanders so be kind;) I have just bought a petrol Freelander which needs some new tyres so was thinking Colway AT, does anyone else have them fitted and are they excessively noisy on the road?

Cheers PaulT

I've had them for about a month and a half now. They are OK on the road, I don't notice any more noise and they are grippy in the wet or dry. They do feel a bit wierd crossing white lines at about 80 but that doesn't happen too often. They do look good as well. Can't say how they will wear yet but for the price .....Hey!
I recommend changing them all together and then put new pairs on the rear to avoid some of the compications/funny noises that you can read about on this forum.

Thats great mate thanks for that will go colway, first Freelander so just getting used to things i have read all the vcd, ird, diff, threads etc, the car i bought made a terrible rumbling noise from the back suspected the worse, but as luck would have it when going underneath i found a brand new diff, vcd and props had a look at the tyres rear pair are below tread bars and the fronts not far behind so hopefully new tyres should sort the noise.

I'm on my first freelander too.

Your first issue here is that the best tread depth tyres should be fitted to the rear of the vehicle. This may be the cause of your tyre noise.

If your changing all four, then you should have no problems. Just ensure that If you buy a pair later down the line that they go on the rear axle and that the part worns get moved to the front.

Tyres will wear faster on the front - I bought a pair at Christmas and had them fitted to the rear. When my fronts wear out (prob got about 4-5K left) then I shall have a new pair to the rear and get the rear wheels fitted to the front axle.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on with the Colways. Im very tempted at £33 per corner in my 15" wheel size.

Regards,

Steve

They are pretty good as I said. Thinking on I had them on my last defender and they wore pretty well so they should do well on the Freebee

colways have arrived today from Lewis 4x4 £158 for 4(215 65 16) delivered cannot grumble at that only ordered them yesterday. I also read through the FAQ and found out why my HDC was not working which was nice.

Cheers PaulT

i've got them on mine, they are a bit noisey but turning the stereo on cures that. but at less than 50 quid a corner for a 225/55/17 tyre im not complaining, plus they look cool as well. if you have 17's on your gaylander and really want AT tyres then colway are the only people who make them.
stick 32psi in them.
