Well sometimes I do find myself asking that! I love the western Arctic though, and Yellowknife is a fantastic place. Just the right size (20,000ish) and not as remote now that we have year round road access. There are great people here, so many opportunities, the wages are higher and we pay less taxes than 'down south'. I can handle the cold (even if my 90 can't), but winter does go on. And on. And on. I've been fortunate enough to see a fair amount of the arctic on someone else's dime, even going to Eureka, Nunavut twice. That's at 80 deg N, the second most northerly permanently populated place on the planet. I spend 10 years living in southern Canada (British Columbia), and I've lived in Yellowknife for 23 years now. I would be happy to retire here. Most daysWhat the hell possessed you to move to a place like that, weather not bad enough for you in the UK? lol
