OK, since the weather has taken a turn for the cold, my RR (3.9 V8) is a little slow to start. Doesn't struggle too much, but probably turns over 3 times before catching, whereas in warmer weather it's on the first turn.

Is there anything I can do to help it along? I've read cleaning the MAF sensor can really help, but what do you clean it with? Will check plugs, leads and dizzy cap at the weekend - is it OK to spray the inside of the dizzy with WD40?

Cheers!

I think the battery is OK actually - when the alternator belt snapped it kept it going for quite a while with lights etc on (was at night, typically!). Also, I put a charger on it the other day and it went to "ready/maintaining" pretty quickly.

I suppose if everything else doesn't help it would make sense though - cheers!

I get similar issues with my white one.
Check the usual. leads cap etc. Also check timing, wear on "points" air filter, fuel filter, amp. May just be very slight damp build up in the cap or electrics.

Oh, and you can get Halfords to check your battery for free. Rules that out at no cost. Battery can appear to be good in warmer weather and then give up in the cold. (yes I had that last winter lol)
