cold start issues

So my old man has a 2004 disco hse. The problem is it struggles to start and maintain idle in the cold. It gets driven everyday and more times than not this happens. Today it took 4 attempts to start. It's been regularly serviced and all the oil is fine. Does anybody have a solution for this, thanks

fuel not getting through ?

Even when you open the throttle a little to help it, it konks out as soon as you try to get it to idle. Once its been driven, even just 20yards it is fine.

that has already been tested, it turned out fine but had that replaced just incase.

Any more ideas, all will be appreciated as we are both out of ideas

surely the start point is to plug it in to diagnostics, it's pretty futile trying to guess on such a complex vehicle............

It has been plugged in to 2 different diagnostics, one being from land rover themselves but everything read fine.

poor connectors, one of the egr valves sticking, the list is endless, but if diagnostics doesn't tell you, you are in for the long haul, do you put quality fuel in or supermarket

it always gets filled with Texaco diesel. Will get our mechanic to look at the EGR Valve and get it cleaned or in worst case get it replaced. Thanks

there are two egr valves, one on each bank, when it is struggling to rev does it smoke a lot?
