It came with coil springs in it and was fed up of the dash lights coming up, eventually I do want to revert back to eas

A main dealer doing that is in my opinion an admission of gross ineptitude on his part.

This is the same dealer that told me it was not possible to adjust the idle speed, and that 850 was fine ... :(
(But I still take it there for it's MOT  - they do know the car, they supplied and serviced it up until I got it 18 months ago)

My newly baught p38 has springs and shocks already done. Cant complain about the ride considering a crappy transporter t4 is my daily drive for now

Please don't encourage people to bastardise their P38's.:p

Do people recommend not changing the airbags to coils because its an unoriginal thing to do to the P38 or is because its not a good modification?

I'm just wondering cause I'm looking at buying one at the moment and alot of the adverts I look at have the coil conversion done and they are selling it as an improved modification and some believe that its the only way to go?

True statement or bad based on it should be kept original?

Do a search, there is a lot of discussion on the subject. Think it's face saving saying it's an improvement.:)

Yeah been doing a bit of research alright, but I was afraid the main reason people converted back to coils was down to cost and not performance/ practicality and that in the long run it might not be the best option. But if its not down to price and the reasons for doing this conversion was benificial then I'm happy with that! :)

Personally I don't think it's a beneficial conversion, the EAS is not rocket science and is not expensive to fix/maintain. It's certainly cheaper than the cost of conversion. With the information available on this forum it is certainly a fixable option. I think some of the Main Stealers would benefit from reading some of the "how to's", like other's if they don't understand it they change it. And I haven't mentioned the implication's of Insurance and MOT:)

Fitting coils to a P38 can in no way shape or form be regarded as an improvement.

A P38 without air suspension is like fitting wheels on a tomato, time consuming and absolutely pointless!
Oh I don't know..

Guess you haven't tried a proper air sprung P38 then.:)
My dad had a lindley brand new but i was like 12 at the time..
mine had already been taken apart and done before my father in law had it. Compressor lines and everythings gone probs more effort and expence then its worth for a motor il use to go to the shops or play with off road see if itl see if it can keep to some of the local idiots with their big tyres on showguns
