Bloomin buggerin Clutch seems to have gone on my 90, can run through the gears fine when engine off, but with engine running cant get into any forward gear, only reverse with some gear crunching.

Because I dont really understand clutches or want to understand them (black magic as far as im concerned!) hopefully a mate of a mate is going to do it, however I'd love to overcomee this myself if possible - how easy is it to do defender experts? I have a removable cross member so I can just drop the gearbox rather than an engine lift - if that makes it considerably easier?! Hope some of you can help shed a little light...

Does the pedal feel normal? Is the clutch making strange noises?

It sounds more like a hydraulic fault to me.

I was wondering that - the pedal seems to feel normal when pushing on it, checked the level and its fine - no leaks apparant underneath anywhere where I park it!

cant you pull the tunnell and seat box out and get a engine lift in thru the passenger door ,only saying cos when i replaced my clutch from underneath it was a heavy pain in the arse and afterwards an old mechanic i know said why didnt you do it the easy way (as mentioned above) maybe someone on here could clarify if its possible that way for you as it would appear to be less hassle if it is the clutch plate .and if you do have to get a clutch kit make sure its got a spigot bearing and heavy duty clutch arm with it.
