Out the front, spanner in hand
Scuse my ignorance but whats the purpose of this little fella and where does it go? Reason i ask is that i just finished fitting disco engine n box to my 110, the engine cam with fairly new clucth on it and the bloke i bought it off gave me the release bearing so i fixed it all together, never knew anything about the spigot bearing or whether it was already in there somewehere. What would be the symptoms of not fitting one?

supports the front of the gear box input shaft, it will put strain on input bearings and if enough play will allow clutch disc to move what you notice and how quick depends on play in the bearings as is

I just changed the clutch in my 300tdi and I was gonna change it at the same time but couldn't get it out, was well in there, didn't feel as though there was much wear so I just left it and hoped for the best. When the box and engine are split its right in the centre of the flywheel. Just keeps the round landing on the end of the gearbox shaft from going lalde.
