clutch smell

a few weeks ago i reversed a caravan up a slope with my td4 and the clutch started smelling bad and smoking.i let it cool down and have since done about 500 miles and it drives fine but when i park up the clutch still smells have i buggered it up ???

Did the same me self at easter smell is just starting to go now after about 1600 mile.. but got it booked in to garage on wednesday to get it replaced as i don`t want to risk it with the van on the back as our next trip is to cromer..

perhaps to could let us know what the clutch was like when its removed. thanks.

Have known the FL clutch to smell like s41te when theyve been off road, then carry on for 1000s of miles with no problem after...will obviously reduce life span of clutch but dont think it willbe terminal unless it was already well worn.

Update............. clutch replaced wednesday clutch plate well fuked down to the rivets slave cylinder also goosed
