2002 TD4: When i'm in traffic or say reversing and riding the clutch slightly or keeping it down whilst waiting, more and more often now the clutch pedal sticks down, not always all the way to the bottom sometimes in the middle.

If i lift it with my foot it pops back up straight away and all is fine, it never sticks when changing gear normally just when the pedal is held or released slowly.

Chances are its the slave cylinder but i'm hoping Tiga and the rest of you may have some ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Master cylinder is being replaced in the morning by the dealer, happy days for the warranty.

If you have this problem get it sorted ASAP as it only gets worse and will eventually fail completely.

dug out this thread for advice on a similar problem that i'v got for the 1st time today on my petrol 99 model admittedly the wife is learning to drive in it just now, so probably won't help much:p

how much would this cost for to change approx? is it worthwhile changing the entire clutch assy:confused:

The part is about £40 and can be done DIY if you have basic spanner skills.

Its not hard as the part is a complete item and takes about an hour to do.

When we had this problem it got worse very quickly so much so you couldnt trust it to even pull away as the pedal would stay down and then suddenly release causing a stall.

Mine does this for a short while if I haven't used it for a few days. Once back in use it quickly frees itself up again. I just put it down to a bit of excess stiction in the system somewhere.

aye well, didn't have that much history with it when i got it, so not a big surprise.

anyways the clutch master slave cylinder seems a straight forward job so will get that done when the HG's finished.
