Ever since I got my 90 I have had a light skraunching sound when I sink the cluch pedal then a light squeak when it returns. Not all the time but perhaps 75% of the time,
I can actually feel it in my foot, feels kinda like something is lightly grinding against something,
Clutch works fine otherwise although I am on my second new master cylinder. First was a Britpart.

Anything I should check or dont worry about it?

Thanks.

Sounds like a clutch release bearing to me but James will probably be able to elaborate or suggest something else.
Anyway, I like the word 'skraunch' ... is that a word local to where you are? :)

if it only happens when pedal half down its usually spigot bush ,all the way and as pressed and as above thrust bearing especially with feel under foot

It will be your fork. Mine was the same exactly be the sound of it. I have just changed my engine allong with the fork and now it is lovely and smooth and light! The pivots on my old one were all scored and bone dry. Now smooth and lubed!

I am keeping an eye on this one as i have the same noise, i was going to ask about it but i couldn't think of a word to describe it, "skraunch" fits perfectly, I am going to give the OED a call to see if i can get it entered next year.

That means a complete clutch removal to get to the release bearing.

So, who makes the best clutch parts and where do I get one of those reinforced clutch forks?

Do I really need to remove the engine or can the job be done from underneath by removing the transfer and gear box?

Thanks.

Recommend AP or Borg and Beck for clutch kit with HD fork and yes it is best from underneath on a Def and I believe from above on a Disco.

borg and beck (now AP i think) seem to do well or if your doing a lot of towing a HD clutch can be ok.

If you cant get hold of a HD fork just get a standard one and weld a strip of metal to the back of it. Does the same job :)

my new one is borg and beck, so far, so good, much lighter than my old one and bites bloody hard. my old one used to slip quite alot if i gave it some into gear.. and that was with a td!

my hd fork was britpart.. i believe they are the only people who make em??
