Hi guys and gals

Tried taking my 2a out but the clutch pedal won’t return. So I ordered replacement springs from craddocks. Their 2a clutch return springs.

still won’t return and the springs feel less powerful than the old one so I figure it’s not a spring issue.

any advice?
 
Okay so I’ve had someone tell me that this is symptomatic of either a clogged or “on its way out” clutch master or slave cylinder. He’s said it’s an easy enough job.
Opinions? Advice? I’ve found the master but couldn’t find the slave in the time I was out there looking.
 
Mine did this exact same thing the other day, was slave cylinder seizing up from lack of use.
Pop underneath with a large screwdriver and lever the slave pushrod/arm back up, then work the pedal a few times, it will get you going for now.

Nice, thanks, i'll try that first before i go buying ****. That's next sunday planned :)

Really hasn't had much use at all due to the whole covid thing. Would make sense that something had seized up a little.

My little mind went into over drive thinking the worst, clutch cover broken, shaft seized, shaft connector pin/s seized, engine out bollacks bollacks, then thought act/think rational you **** and take alook, 2 mins later and we are driving down the road!
 
Most likely a hydraulic issue. When I had this issue it was seals in the master braking up and little bits blocking the fluid passage ways.
 
I had a problem like that on my S111 it turn out to be the rubber flex pipe. Inside the pipe a flap of rubber was acting as a one way valve and not letting the fluid return. easy to repair new pipe.
 
It could simply be the pivot of the pedal if you look at the side of pedal box under bonnet there is a bolt in the pivot shaft remove and squirt some oil into the hole. I removed my bolt and fitted a 1/4UNF angled grease nipple.

any pointers on where to look? Followed the hose from the pedal box and found a pivoting arm way under by the oil drain plug.

this the sucker? Really stiff

That looks like it, see if you can lever it back up at the pushrod end, mine popped back up with minimal effort, if you have resistance you need to figure out if that resistance is mechanical or fluid.
If ii is solid there is a chance the tube pins may have snapped in the cross shaft, and that is why the slave is at max extension

thanks for the diagram. i'm going to go and try to pull up the floor now. Any tips on how to work out if the resistance is mechanical or fluid? I soaked it in WD40 last week, maybe that's helped free it up if it was gunky.
 
Try pulling on the pedal. If it’s a stiff pull, it could be as someone suggested above. The pedal is fixed to the pedal box on a shaft. That shaft is pinned through a collar on the pedal box which is a bitch to get out. That shaft goes through the pedal and through the other side of the box. As it’s pinned to the box, it’s does not move. The pedal has 2 brass bushes pressed into it. In my case, the brass bushes were seized/crudded onto the steel shaft. If it’s not a hydraulic issue and it’s mechanical, I would advise to whip off the pedal box (to be able to work on it freely, especially for getting that pin out) and take out the shaft, clean properly, regrease and refit.
