Hi one and all,
New to the site so bare with me....... my 1984 RRC has just started de selecting 1 st gear intermitently when pulling off sometimes under strain and sometimes not when it deselects i get a relly loud banging from the bellhousing.......if i switch off and reselect it solves the problem. lt37 5 speed gear box manual. Also when the engine has been stood still for a few hours 2nd gear is an absolute pig to select! PLEASE ADVISE!

just hada new 4.0 cylinder block put in with uprated camshaft and rhodes lifters she runs on lpg which generally is good but can be an arse to start! the petrol cut off solenoids were new 2 months ago but now will not switch off in the transition from lpg to petrol or vice versa! please help ordered new solenoids hope to fix it that way..........

will keep u all posted! oh anyone know any good landy/4x4 companies here in germany? (soldier on the rhine!):D:doh:

hi mate,welcome to the loony bin,a thick skin and a weired sense of humour required.but seeing as you iz a squddie that comes naturally.:D:D:D:p;)
 
Sounds like a bit of both.
For now, try changing the clutch fluid & bleeding.
It will be the syncro cones going thin inside the box, giving the notch out of 1st and difficult engagement of 2nd, but it will be exacserbated if the clutch is a bit thin and you're not t aking all the load off them when you shove teh dogs into action.
Changing fluid & bleeding wont solve the problem, but might give you a bit more useful effort at the clutch in copensation.
