One thing after another, isn't it?

OK. 1995 diesel P38 DT (manual).

In short, there's something up with the clutch. Missus said she put her foot down to change gear and the clutch went down and stayed down and then the car just wouldn't go into gear. On recovering the car there was a pool of clutch fluid on the floor.

Further examination has revealed the piston has come clean off the slave cylinder and the arm thing that sticks through the bell housing just seems to move around without doing much. So something inside has broken or become detached.

Questions:

What's the most likely component to fail?

Is it a big job to get the thing fixed (RAVE seems to imply it is if that clutch assembly has to come out)?

Cheers,

J

spiral pins that secure clutch fork to cross shaft have broken ,you need to remove box to get at bell housing ,which isnt to bad on a p38

diesel do i was advised a few yrs back not to drill and fit bolts so i put 2 spots of weld along with the spiral pins

Dunno, I was in a bit of a rush! No pins, so used two bolts with shanks on them drilled and tapped, they were a nice snug fit and been absolutely fine!
