Hi guys, Just had to drive the Landy 8 Miles Back in 4WD...

It seems the Clutch has gone, no pressure on it and you can lift the peddle up and down easily. After closer look just noticed that the Clutch Fluid pipe is leaking?

Do you think the Clutch has gone or will a new pipe work after bleeding? ~

Anthony.

Dun't git yer at all, its permanent 4WD & cun't see what help difflock will be with no clutch?

The lack of pressure & leaking pipe does point to your clutch, but I don't get what you're on about re:4WD/difflock?

If your clutch is gone it doesn't matter wether you are in 2wd or 4wd (although a disco is permanent 4wd). Is the clutch slipping (loads of revs and hardly any go)? or is it that you have no clutch pedal but if you start it in gear it'll drive fine? If it's the first then your clutch has gone. If it's the second (which is what it sounds like to me) it'll be the clutch hydraulics failed.

If it will only drive in difflock then you have a transferbox/drive shaft/halfshaft problem.

Let me start again...

There is no pressure at all on the clutch pedal. It can be moved up and down freely but won't rise back on its own, it just drops to the floor.

It won't engage any gears when the engine is running, obviously it grinds. If you put it in gear and start the engine it will drive but you can't change gear because the clutch aint working.

The pipe that is leaking is the one that comes down from the clutch fluid reservoir to the box?

lol spooky, was gonna post exactly the same question today about mine, went to Kirton for a playday yesterday and ended up driving back home with a pedal which was getting worse and worse, at least I know its hydraulic now, thanks guys.

Are they easy to replace if the slave cylinder seals are knackered ?

Yes, but the clip that holds the pushrod in the bell housing can be fiddly

Similar happened to me over the last couple of days, no pressure on the clutch pedal and gears crunching on almost every change, sometimes I couldn't even engage the gears so had to stop the engine, put it in gear and start again. Turns out the slave cylinder was knackered, local 4x4 centre replaced it for £28 all in, not worth getting my hands dirty for that much as the slave cylinder itself was £15 quid!

I have replaced the Clutch Pipe today... Got one made up from Shell tune for a fiver.

Tried to bleed the clutch but it doesn't seem to be pushing fluid though to well. The pedal still drops right to the floor. I'm getting no pressure on the pedal what so ever...

I left the pipe off closest to the gear box and put my finger over the end to see the pressure and it was just enough to build up a little back pressure and cause a squirt.

Any ideas?
