Hi all!! I have a clutch fluid leak on my V8 defender. It seems fine during the day, then i leave it parked overnight, and in the morning the clutch pedal goes strait to the floor with no resistance and the reservoir is empty. I have to refill and bleed the system, then it works again. I've read the threads on here and done some research. Just want to check that I've got things correct before i start spending money and time.

There is no leak from the master cylinder, no fluid running down the clutch pedal, no leaks along the pipe to the slave cylinder, no leak at any of the unions to the slave cylinder.

Instead the fluid seems to be coming from the gearbox instead.......

I've looked at an exploded diagram of the slave cylinder.

Am i right in assuming that the fluid is leaking though the piston seal in the slave cylinder and the soulution is to replace the entire slave cylinder?

Thanks in advance guys.

If the seals have gone in 1, its likely to have gone or go soon in the other. The MC is the easiest of the 2 and seeing as you have to bleed it through with new fluid anyway, you might as well do both.

make sure you use good quality OME parts, not ****part. They are only slightly more expensive, but worth it.

Ok, thats no problem as they're fairly cheap, but why just out of interest?
If by cheap you mean getting a britpart one DONT!!! i bort one brand new and it was worse than the faulty one i as replacing. Didnt bleed through at all. Went a got a genuine one and worked perfectly!

Hi, (90 td)

I have a leek on my clutch its coming down the clutch pedal onto the floor in the cab! its ok for a few days then i have refill the resivoir and start again. (then the clutch sits on the floor untill i top up)

could this be my master cylinder, or some sort of seal? and how easy is it to fix, and how do i do it?

Thanks in advance..
