Hi. Everything was going fine with my Td4 this morning until after pulling out of a junction the clutch didn't engage fully and the revs just went up. Obviously I thought the clutch had gone, but there was no smell.
I managed to change gear and the problem continued until i got into 4th and then everything worked well. There were no problems for the remaining 5 miles and no problems at all on the 45mile drive home.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks
Gary

Most likely to slip badly when at higher revs/ under load.
Check adjustment but most likely cause is the friction lining is worn out / glazed.
Maybe leaky crankshaft oil seal could be contaminating plate? is the drain plug removed in the flywheel housing?
Small leaks not a massive issue so dont be too alarmed if theres small oil trace

Thanks Cremator.

Not what i wanted to hear, but suspected. Would this be linked to the juddering when pulling away on a hill?

Gary

Juddering, can be misaligned clutch but in this case would say badly worn and broken shock springs on the friction disc.
The rivets start to wear through too these score the flywheel and pressure plate and also cause juddering, get it looke at mate :)

misaligned clutch ? thats a new one to me ,juddering will be glazed clutch plate ,clutch sounds worn out ,need to replace dual mass too as well as concentric

I had the clutch changed on my td4 at around 70 thou, only slipped occasionally but it did not judder, only replaced friction and pressure plate, not the flywheel, worked perfectly so far.
