Series 2 Clutch cover fitting

Hello,
Series 2 (2 litre) 1958
I am fitting a new clutch plate and spring type cover. When fitting, I notice that there is only 4 mm clearance between the flywheel face and the clutch cover flange before the springs start to be compressed. This somehow doesn't seem enough to
a. Assert the pressure required to prevent slip
b. Give any room for wear of the friction disk. The linings is around 4 mm.
I would appreciate comments/advice. I don't want to assemble it all, put the gearbox back in, only to find there is clutch slip.

thats normal it should just fit on to dowels and hey are only that long
