Hi Guys
I had a new clutch fitted to my 04 Freelander 3 days ago and only collected it yesterday only to find the fob or key will not lock the doors. I cannot return to the mechanic as he has died suddenly and the garage is all closed up and may not re-open. I have pressed the fob button 5 times quickly and all the car doors locked, but then the key or the fob will not unlock the doors now . I have managed to get a hanger wire down the inside of the door and pull on the handle but still wont open.
Any help Please.

You have to ask the question. Are the keys for your car?

The key must unlock the drivers door as that's your only way in should the remote fail. You can't pop the button as the deadlock is still active, if it was locked with the fob.

The only other way is to use the spare set. If you've only 1 set of keys, then you're screwed, unless you order a set from LR.

HI All.
Road side rescue has opened the bonnet ,disconnected the battery for about 2 minutes , connected back up and was able to open the locks.
When I gave the car into the garage opening and closing was no problem so now I think would they have disconnect something while replacing the clutch.
I don't want to lock the car again in case Iam back to square one. Is there anything I can check before I try it again.
Many Thanks

So you have pressed the "unlock" button 5 times in rapid succession?
Also can you lock and unlock the car with the key in the drivers door?

Hi There,
I have lowered the drivers door window so I can access the ignition
Fob will lock the car but will not open it .
The key does not lock or unlock the door .The internal door latch will not open the locks and the only way in is to disconnect / reconnect the car battery and start the car . The internal door OPEN/LOCK switch will now open all doors .
Any help would be great

Hi,
If I lock the doors from the inside latch switch all buttons on the doors will close except for the drivers door button that vibrates up and down several times attempting to close

Sounds you need two new fobs and a dealer to sync it all up.

Agreed.

Alternatively I'm sure you can code a couple of working, second hand fobs. You'll need to find someone nearby with a Hawkeye, which I'm sure will add new fobs and delete old ones.

Doors open or closed? If open then that's correct.

If you can't lock driver's door when it's closed, then there's a fault.

You can't lock the driver's door with the door open, which prevents you from being locked out. ;)
