Ok im looking for jobs to do...
Has anyone cleaned a td5 engine bay? What did you use and is it worth soaking birminghams finest electrics in water?

I've got a V8 and I don't cover anything electrical (TD5 ECU I would definitely cover), wash a slightly warm (not hot!) engine, use washing up liquid in a bucket of hot water to cut the grease, grime and dirt, use various scrub brush sizes especially to get into tight corners (be mindful of washing around thin vacuum tubes, plastic cooling lines and wire bundles), use medium water pressure (not a pressure washer!) to rinse, *use a leaf blower to blow off all the water in the engine bay especially at the electrical components (fuse box, starter, ABS pump, alternator, battery, Td5 ECU... etc), and as an option... use a liberal amount of tyre dressing spray to shine and pimp out the engine bay's rubber/plastic.
Run engine to make sure no problems after washing.

Tidy thanks. I had a go at it with swarfega degreaser with a brush then wipe down with shop towel. Made a difference. My front cam cover was so bad it fell out when i touched it, so a new one has gone in. But it looks like its been dripping onto the various bits of the belt and spraying the bay in oil. Excellent rust proofing though : )
Cheers again will try a bit of warmer water to finish off
