Hi all,

I noticed at the weekend that the headlining in my RRC is really quite filthy and disgusting! It’s actually in good condition – hasn’t sagged at all, and no rips or tears, but it is really, really mucky!

Short of getting it professionally steam cleaned, anyone managed to clean their headlining without ruining it? Last thing I want to do is end up with clean but saggy headlining!!

Cheers!

acetone or brake cleaner but very light quick wipes so as to avoid knackering the glue holding up the cloth.

Not going for a new one then?

Once they start to sag it is only a matter of time before you have it all hanging down. Mine has slowly sagged over the last 5 years but as mine is just a hack I'm not that bothered about it (yet).

Hi fett - there's nothing wrong with it apart from it being dirty, so not really worth £250 for a replacemebt!! But a clean would do wonders - I think one of the previous owners smoked quite a bit, so I imagine a lot of it is nicotine stains!

Kev - it's not sagging, just dirty, but I want to make sure when I do clean it I don't ruin the glue and cause sagging!!

Will try some household carpet cleaner first, see if that touches it - if not, then some acetone will be next on the list.

Cheers!

Have a look at a product called Marine Clean available from frost.co.uk, costs about £10.
I've used it to remove mould etc on a caravan and it worked brilliantly.
If you aren't sure give em a ring and they will tell you if its likely to cause any damage etc.

Think you're tempting fate!! If it ain't sagging yet it soon will be was what I was hinting at. Good luck;)
