I almost had a heart attack first time the oil was changed , in my ownership.I always 'first parade' , so checked the oil level, day after I got it back from garage. I'd done approx 50 miles and oil was black. I came running on here in a panic, asking the guys for help. Only to be told that be what they does. :D

It's the high cylinder pressures and cold starts, absolutely normal.

Crank the engine manually to empty the pump, you'll get an extra 70-100ml out.

Thanks all. Gonna be busy I think.

If you do the rocker then be aware that the gasket at the rear has a half-moon shape. F*ck knows why. Of course, it i out of sight and you cannot get more than your fingertips in so it has to be refitted and aligned by touch. Some people use some RTV glue to tack it in place and stop it moving. I can well understand why thy do but I didn't have any. Fortunately I got lucky and it went back in the right place on the nth attempt before I tightened up.

I seam to remember someone who had a cam bearing turn in the block, which blocked off the oil way starving the rockers of oil.

Yeah I’m well aware of the gasket at the back but always nice to be reminded. Seems The power steering pipe has given up this morning and started to leak
