In the case of RRC's not fitted with towpacks from new, is there a pick-up point for towing electrics at the rear of the car or will it be a case of getting a 'sparks' to wire the 12n & 12S sockets in to the existing loom?

As far as I know just for lights you just need a lead that plugs in to a tail on the existing loom by the rear right lamp cluster (plug and play!). I'm pretty sure there is a part number for the lead but you'd need to either search for it or ask a local dealer. Hope that helps.

The 12S socket is a different kettle of fish. You need to run either two 2.5mm.sq cables or one 4mm.sq cable from the positive battery teminal with a 30A fuse or two 20A fuses if running two separate live feeds to the rear of the car. These cables are then used to feed normally open relays which in turn allow the fridge and caravan battery charging to operate. A separate Ignition switched live is required to operate the relay coil to ensure that both the caravan battery and fridge only receive power from the car whilst the engine is running otherwise the car battery will be flattened with the caravan hitched and plugged in. Another wire to the 12S socket goes to the reversing lights and another wire to a 12V permanent live feed (This can be the feed wire from the battery) for the caravan interior lights, water pump etc.
There is plenty of wiring info. on the web.

For those of you with P38's.....the power feeds can be taken from the terminal posts on the Becm.
